@osp80 It would have been a near bolt-in on any other year 240, as well ~ WHY carve up one of the very few 1970 models left on the planet?? They are so few now they need to be preserved, not modified. The Datsun/Nissan Z car is the most-popular sports/GT car in history (based on sales), & this was the year that started that landslide. They made more than 31,000 1971 240Zs, & they were just as lightweight as the ’70s. Why not pick on one of those instead of a year that deserves to be restored?
Crappy music. Let your Z do the talkin’.
What month 1970 car did you modify to make this car? There were only abt 10,000 of the original 1970 Zs, and there have to be *maybe* 4,000 of them left today. Which number did you kill to make this car?
And either that is the LAST perfect 1970 dashboard, or a very good dash cap.
@DasMidnightDrifter
To see the build thread for both the diesel engine and the separate turbo install, do a quick search on this site: nissandiesel*dyndns*org, under L-series engines. There are a lot of photos and caveats. * = .
@FARMSET Well, it supposedly makes those figures as soon as you strap on a nice turbocharger and give the smoke-screw a tiny little turn, which is what I did. I haven’t dyno’ed it yet, the numbers are based on the two tested ones I have heard of (including a twin-turbo LD28). It’s a guestimate, but the previous engine was an F54 L28 with perfectly tuned duel SUs, and the turbodiesel seems much stronger.
@mrZdude It’s true, gasoline is still the best, but dang it, I just love the diesel anyway because of it’s character (though my immediate neighbors may disagree)!
Between the music and the crackling noise, talk about ruining an otherwise good video!

@FLSHBK1 how do you figure he killed the car,it’s nearly a bolt in engine swap
I wish there was no back ground Music. I prefer to hear the car as is.
@douro20
That engine was from a 1981. 5-83 Maxima.
where did you source that engine from?

@dummydoo93 fuel injuctions for pussies haha
i believe my spark plugs have a good chance of toasting you, love it though
id of put an rb25det in it
i had no idea datsun made that
@golgo17 any vids of the newfound turbo power?
i have a dream of making my ‘83 zx a turbo diesel haha
@golgo17
for the time that was pretty good. it can still spin the wheels a bit at start up (probably because of the light body).
@golgo17
Well then, were is the video of your turbo run?! I want to hear some turbo whistle!
@12valvepower
I wouldn’t say it was super quick, but it was. . . relentless. However, now that it has a turbocharger, it is definitely quick.
@darthyoda93
It is the LD28, inline 6 cylinders, 2. 8 liter. Stock power numbers are something like 95 hp and 150 ft/lbs of torque.

I’m guessing the LD28 came out of a Patrol. These engines make 95hp at 4500rpm, and redline is 5000rpm.
Do you have a build thread somewhere? I want to build one of my own. This is my new dream car.
Fuck the R8 TDi. My diesel sports car’s gonna be L-powered.
pretty cool its very similar to the 2. 8 inline gas motor; I’ll bet hes getting incredible MPG too
