1984 Chevy 6.2 diesel cold start and drive

Firing up the old 1984 Chevy K-20 with camper after sitting for 3 months. Took it for a spin to charge the batteries up a little. Turn up the volume for the sound of the Banks Powerpack exhuast system. The truck used to be red but I had it painted blue. I’m going to work on the interior next. This was taped in Enumclaw WA and I was driving up Hwy 410 up to mud mountain dam. The EGT guage peaked at about 900 F while making the climb up Hwy 410.

I got an 89 dodge 12 valve and a buddy who got a 85 chevy 6. 2. We took em down the strip and dodge got more torque but that v8 beat me in horsepower. It was about an even match with the dodge barely winning by a hair. Both great trucks. ?

No it was just a civilian K-20 that I bought about 18 years ago. It’s been run hard over the years, had a snowplow, pulled many trailers and now a camper. Has 189,000 miles on the original engine. ? Hardly uses any oil. I know 6. 2’s weren’t the most powerful and longest lasting diesels but this one has been great to me.

was? thisa old military truck that you just redone?

Sure. I should say that the intake and the exhuast pipes are a banks “powerpack” but I replaced the muffler with another one because I though the banks one didn’t flow good? enough. The one I replaced it with is a big straight through design. Gave it a little more power too.
