Banks products? What’s the truth? A lot of money for modest power gains

Banks has a video up of a package to a Dodge ram cummins. But there’s some incorrect facts in the matter. I questioned it, but instead my posts were deleted. So I’ll ask here. I think I know the reason. Banks products simply cost double the competition for half the performance. Their market (at least in the cummins crowd) is of buyers wanting power but not knowledged in all aspects. Their power packages run several thousand dollars to get marginal performance. Now I’m not going to deny that smoke from a diesel is wasteful. Banks has that completely right. I commend them for producing a product that doesn’t harm the diesel enthusiast sport. I’d just like an answer to why they’d fib on things and why they take to suppressing people?

Banks products are VERY overpriced. they spend a lot of market research. Not saying what they sell is crap but it’s just insanely over priced, that’s all. Most of the time you can get a product JUST as good, if not better from other repeatable Diesel company’s. Here is one, in my opinion, and MANY people on Cummins forums will agree: you can pay $500 for a big ole’ pretty shinny Red banks high? ram intake horn. . . . OR you can get one for $150 that works JUST as Well.

@patracy it’s all good. i don’t fall for anything, ever. i gather info from a very wide base and many sources before making decisions. pisses off the majority of people, with their “oh, pretty red one. . . i want it now. ” stupidity. i assume you know more on? this subject than I, but I am picking up info quickly. best wishes.

@kenfo0 Ken, I think you misread my comment. I said I’m NOT going to delete your comments like Banks did me.

I’ve had banks? stuff before on another truck, wasn’t impressed at all. My other stuff I’ve tried (Edge, superchips, Quadzilla) have all installed just as easy and been just as safe. You’re falling into their marketing ploy BTW ;-)

@patracy I’ll read around and see what folks say. I am in the market for a “cheap” diesel right now and want to tinker, so I’m? reading a bunch right now. best wishes.

@patracy You shouldn’t delete my comments for two reasons. One, I’ve not made any offensive statement nor said anything untrue. Two, outside of truly nasty comments or spam/off-topic posts, only cowards delete posts. Have you used Banks equipment? I would imagine people expect their products to 1. do? what is stated 2. be as easy to install as possible. 3. last. 4. be safe. I would think cost is less of an issue, as someone is going w/ a brand name. Some marketing ass likely deleted your posts.

@kenfo0 If you’re interested? I can record my IATs, but we’re splitting hairs I guess. In any case, thanks for the view. I always welcome a civil discussion. :-)

  7. patracy says:

@kenfo0 Well I’m not going to delete your comments like Banks would. I guess you’d just have to have a closer beat on the market to know how? they go about things. You’re absolutely right about how not everything is true on the internet. You’re well within your right to dispute my statements. I just know from what I’ve tested and measured. And the vast number of trucks I’ve seen running around with stock intercoolers. Please don’t take my word for it, feel free to confirm it from other sources.

@patracy no offense intended, but questions aren’t “true”. people’s opinions aren’t “fact” or “proof”. Anyone who spends 3 min. on any vehicle forum knows ford sucks! no wait, you have to be a JACKASS to drive a dodge! what I meant to say is chevy = shit and THAT’s a FACT!. >> It’s bullshit, not fact.

You don’t like Banks. You don’t buy Banks. Seems like the end of the? problem. If what you state is fact, they will lose sales. You may be spot on, but your vid here isn’t convincing.

@kenfo0 Also Banks had a video of theirs praising their product on youtube, I asked questions about the IAT’s not being anywhere close to 400F. Instead of answering why they’d make that claim, they deleted my question to the video.

There’s a lot cheaper means (and just as safe)? to make more power than Banks.

  10. patracy says:

@kenfo0 Umm, spend a few minutes on any legimate diesel performance forum and you’ll see in a short? period of time my questions are true. There’s hundreds of 2nd gen dodges (and later model 3rd gens without the plastic end cap intercoolers) that are over 600hp with the stock intercooler. I also monitor IATs on my truck (both with my Adrenaline and Scan Tool) and never see over 153F. I suppose you could see 400F if you ran a stock turbo to say 50+ psi. But you’d likely blow a HG or turbo first.

  11. kenfo0 says:

where is the? proof for your claims? I’d be pissed too, if you have no proof but are simply bashing them. Nothing anywhere on this vid proves anything. . . . you’ve simply made a bunch of negative claims.
