Powerstroke Performance – Duramax Performance – Cummins Performance

Converting a 5500lb suv to diesel in California.?

I was comparing the curb weight of a Mercedes G500 with a Dodge Ram 2500, and they seem to be very similar (5423lbs and 5456lbs respectively) . Would this mean that the Mercedes would have the same emissions standards as a half ton pickup? If so, aside from all the technical difficulties, could someone legally transplant a diesel engine and transmission from a half ton pickup or van (Dodge Cummins, Mercedes Sprinter, or GM Duramax) into the G500 and still have it comply with California emission regulations?

No. CA emissions are so strict that it would be a waste of time & money. The only way you can get away w/ that is if the MB was a diesel to begin with.
