Detroit Diesel 6v71 powered International Fleetstar

This is short clip of my dad driving my International Fleetstar 2000d with a Detroit Diesel 6v71n engine. We’re just figuring out how to shift this thing so cut him some slack as he misses the shift to 4th.. :-)

Is it possible to put a 8v71 Detroit diesel in an IH Loadstar 1800, with the butterfly hood? Fantastic truck, Awsome sound!!! Love detroit!?

@turbosuperiority What about the Detroit Silver 92? What kind of mileage does that? one get against the Cummins 855?

The 2000-D Internationals came only with 6-cylinder in-line engines. . . . The 6-71 in-line Detroit(238hp), the NH 250(hp) and later NTC-290(hp) Cummins and the Red Diamond (450 & 501cid) series of IH gasoline engines. The basic cab was the same as the International Loadstar? (2-ton) AND the International PICKUP truck(!) of the 1961 to 1968 era. The cab was quite short and narrow. With the big Detroits & Cummins engines, 2-cylinders were under the hood, and 4-cylinders were in the cab!!
    NOISY!!

This one is a ‘66, right? 1974 was the first year? for the 92 Series. I don’t know for sure, but it seems to me that IH made heavier diesel trucks at that time, which may be the reason bigger engines weren’t available.
