It’s no different from most other SBC’s which is about as durable as an engine gets. . . time tested and proven designs dont just constantly fail like that. The only real difference between a 350 vortec and your run of the mill SBC is the fuel injection system. I could see the FI system failing. . . they werent a great design. . . but that would not constitute a whole new motor. And for fucks sake dude. . . its VORTEC. . . . not vortech.
@rpahjr He put the the 350’s in it. . He’s been through 3 of those pieces of shit motors in 2 years!He only has 178,000 miles on the dash on 3 motors. . It’s sad. . 350 Vortech’s suck. . I have 221,000 miles on the same motor that came in it from 99′ And still counting miles.

@jesse4chevy Hey. . . . it’s a technicality. . . . give me a break here. . . lol. The 5. 3 is a damn good engine. . . . would absolutely love to swap one into my truck. . . . heads/cam/full bolt ons. . . . easy 400-450 whp. Although I could spend the extra money on a 6. 0 and do the same work to have closer to 600 whp.

@jesse4chevy The 99 “Classic” body style (GMT400) is just a 98 with an adjusted model year. . basically leftovers. They did the exact same thing with the 99-07 trucks (GMT 800) in 08. . . listed the older body style as a classic when it was a leftover from the previous year while the new body style was released.
@rpahjr There actually was a 5. 7 in a 99, there was a 99 classic still the square body style. We had one at the lot.

@The2004CobraSVT they never put a 350 in a 99 Z71. The 350 vortec was only in silverado’s from 96-98. 99 was when GM switched body styles. . . the 99+ trucks are equipped with the LS based vortecs (4. 8, 5. 3, 6. 0, 6. 2).

@The2004CobraSVT the F-150 is an ‘05 and it has a dead hole and needs a new motor. My Z71 is a ‘97 and its been through hell and back and has 300k on it and still runs like its new, way more power than the ford. Ive replaced 2 fuel pumps and a few small other things but ive had the truck for over 10 years and its never left me stranded. I like the room in the ford but its gutless
