Duramax Water Pump Small Leak Issue?

I have an 05 Duramax Diesel Sierra, and I’ve been having trouble with the water pump leaking just several drops of antifreeze a night, but there are no signs of water pump failure nor any overheating issues. Should I be concerned about the possibility of shelling out $400 to have a new water pump installed?
It’s been below freezing here just about every night for the last week, it seems like when it’s colder, that’s when the leak is the worst, when ambient temperatures reach 40+ degrees, there are no issues. Can someone please help me out of this confused state I’m in about this pump?
Where it seems to be coming from is the gasket between the outlet of the pump and the engine block coolant lines

  1. Scott says:

leaks more in the cold cause the gaskets shrink in cold and expand wen they are warmer. thats why it leaks more wen its colder out. . . . . . i would check ur intake manifold and make sure it isnt comin from there. that gasket could be leakin

I would recommend taking the vehicle into your local GM dealership to be diagnosed. They should be able to assist you further and have a plan for addressing the issue. If you have any other concerns, please feel free to email me. Thank you.
