How Do I “Implement” the Power of Attorney that I Have Been Given?

Recently, an elderly relative who lives several hundred miles from me gave me power of attorney. The form is 8 pages long.

When I deal with banks, etc., what will I be asked to do to prove that I have Power of Attorney?

Will I be asked to fax the entire 8 pages to the institution?

Normal just the page that is signed and notarized

Once you’ve filed, you’ll get a one page “certification” and that is what you’ll need to get things done. After the first time, they’ll have it on record and you’ll only need i. d.

Only the beginning will be difficult until you are added to the accounts and once that happens all you will have to do is sign once they have the Power of Attorney on file. Call and ask the attorney who set up the Power of Attorney, they should be able to advise you.
