I get my power by Hatteras island. and located on the outer banks. We only have a generator that last for 2 hours and goes out for 2 hours. Does any one have any idea how long its going to take to fix the power that Connects to Hatteras Island to Ocracoke?
Note their was tons of damage done to the highway etc. Three times the amount of people are now working on it overtime. They said The transmission Line that provides the energy was severely damaged on both sides and power lines are hanging down.
That is something that can not be predicted. It is all up to your local electric provider and what all they have to do to restore power.
It depends on the damage between you and the source of your power. If a few lines are down, it could take two or three days. If lots of lines are down, it will take several days, and the areas (areas with hospitals, government agencies, etc. ) that need power the most will take priority. If relays or a power plant were damaged, it could take weeks.
It depends on how much damage there was. You’re best off calling your electric utility, they’ll be the best ones to give you a best answer.
Hopefully it gets restored as soon as possible. The workers work very hard to restore the power but there’s precautions they have to take for their safety so please be patient.
A couple of weeks at least.
Sorry to hear that!
Crews are working on it. . .
Just did a bit of research for you, and found this:

Keep your question open for a bit, and I will see what else I can find.

Quite honestly no one here is going to be able to give you a meaningful answer, unless they happen to be working on one of the utility crews working in your area. Even then I would have to wonder how they have the time to log into YA.
It all depends on what is damaged. Utility crews generally focus on restoring power to areas with things like hospitals and firehouses. Then they work to restore power to the largest groups of subscribers they can before finishing with the smaller groups and individuals. They have to prioritize and even with crews coming in from out of state (as i’m sure they are) it’s going to take time. What can be frustrating is that depending on how the grid is set up, someone hear you may get power days before you do. That happened to me here in Florida after Wilma.
