my dad drives 3500 5. 9 around on a daily basis and i know he,s getting around 15 in the city with and a good 19-20 on the highway with it,even when i drive it i get pretty good mileage from it,probably 17-18 on the highway with me driving it,im a lead foot in any vehicle i drive, hope this helps some.

they get about like the guy said 17-18 around town and 19-20 on the highway. If you chip it you can get better yet or worse depends what setting you have it on. I have just bought a 3500 2011 dodge and i love it. I owned every diesel i prefer the cummins. the duraflake is ok. I did have major turbo issues with the fords diesel in the past in a excursion SUV they never seemed to fix it. They probably and hopefully by now they have fixed that issue

the dodge is better because i got a 97 model with low miles on it and i can easily get around 20-21 on the highway with it and the newer ones won’t get that good of mileage, and im averaging about 14 in the city with it,and its bone stock, one thing i have to say about the dodge it gives a real good consistent mileage,in my opinion the 5. 9 was probably the best one they,ll ever build as far as reliability goes, good luck.

the cummins will deliver the most return on your dollar, not just in mileage but also in longevity.
