Powerstroke Performance – Duramax Performance – Cummins Performance

How to get more power out of my current engine?

I have a 67 impala and the previous owner removed the original engine and replaced it with a 350 small block crate engine.

The engine works fine but doesn’t give a lot of power I would expect from a muscle car.

Are there ways to give my current engine more power without breaking the bank and without switching the engine?

Id rather not switch engines until it is absolutely necessary (IE: engine dies).

Any suggestions will help.

Use a performance carb. Upgrade the plugs and oil that you use. Change your exhaust as well. You may also want to get a throttle body spacer.

Throttle body spacer? LMAO this isn’t fuel injected, at this point you’re looking at big bucks after the basic carb and exhaust upgrades. Like heads and cam. If it’s a basic Chevy 350 Crate engine from GMPP, you’re looking at 290 hp at the flywheel as it sits now. It wouldn’t take much to get you up to 300 hp with just headers and a good free flowing exhaust.

Camshaft, headers, intake manifold upgrade, carb upgrade, dual exhaust with low restrictive mufflers just to start. Advance the timing on the engine until it makes aping sound on accelleration and then back off the distributor until it goes away, this will give you a small boost in power alone.

    good luck
