ya, i agree, the 7. 3’s are a great motor. I know a guy with a 1996 7. 3L, tows trailers, used? offroad, and pushes snow in the winter. No problems with her at all. The early 6. 0L’s had alot of problems, i would stay away from them. And i dont know about 6. 4’s. what are they like besides having pretty good torque numbers?
I have a? 6. 0 and it’s okay if you baby it and don’t tow a lot of weight. The old ones were real junk. My 07 has been good to me. Stay with the old reliable 7. 3 if you can.
When i say opend up i mean, different cam, head work, Forged? bottom end, possibly stroked.
Turbo upgrade if you got the money which it sounds like you do would probably help? make alot of power and new injectors would help to especially high capacity ones what do you mean by opened up?
So your telling? me these Powerstrokes that run NOS and going down the track in 11’s and 10’s have not been opend up?
Well im going 4″ stainless from the turbo back no mufflers. I’ll be upgrading the intercooler. As for a chip, down here in AUS we have heaps? of computer makers like Unichip, Wolf3D, Motech, C. A. P. A and Flash tuner etc. . . Good thing with the flash tuner you can run 3 different settings, Economy/Tow/Performance. The tranny will be getting a shift kit and whatever else to strgthen it. . . . Would you recommend a turbo upgrade? AND should i upgrade injectors as well.
with that engine the skys the limit its extremely reliable and can take a lot of abuse just be careful not to make to much power with? for your tranny. Start off with a better exhaust and intake stuff like that and you can never go wrong getting a performance chip
Cool. Thanx for that. Ive just brought myself an 03 7. 3 dual Cab. . I want to do some modifications to it but i dont know what the limit is? on the engine and what i should do to it. I’d like to run 12’s with it. What would you recommend?
i wish we still had the 7. 3 it was the best powerstroke ever made. . . well i dont no its to early for the 6. 4 but 7. 3 got way better mpg then the 6. 4 has been reported to have and? they lasted for ever if ford could make em have a bit more power stock they’d probably be better then a cummins
Here in AUS we still stuck with the 7. 3Psd’s. After 07 we wont be getting anymore F trucks becuse the 08 F trucks cant be converted to right hand drive. . . Which of the PSD’s are the? best 7. 3, 6. 0 or the 6. 4 for relaibilty/modification?
