What kind should i get? I’m only looking at Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. I’m thinking about a diesel, and i’m impressed with Chevy’s Duramax. I also like the way their trucks sit and ride. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Why should I avoid the 6.0 liter PowerStroke?
I’m a Ford guy, I have a dually with the powerstroke . I put a performance module on my Buddy’s Duramax and that GM impressed me
Personally go with ford, 7. 3 liter powerstroke diesel, stay away from the 6. 0 if you can. The Cummins engine is awesome, but the frames on the trucks are weak, I have heard of the engines twisting the frames, but its your call, as to the Duramax its a great engine but the truck sucks for handling something big if your going to use it to haul. I know a guy who has a Ford F-250 and he bought his wife a chevy 2500 with the Duramax, well he has a pretty good sized boat, and he decided to haul the boat with the truck he bought his wife and to say the least he thought that he, the truck, and the boat were going to end up in the water when he went down the off ramp into the lake to put the boat in the water. The F-250 he has, he has no problems using it to haul the boat with. So if you want a good all around truck, stick with ford and the stroker, if you want a great deisel, but a poorly designed frame go with dodge, or if you want speed and horsepower to race with buy the Duramax, a buddy of mine has a friend with a 3500 Duramax and has performance parts in it, he does 15 seconds in the quarter mile. Again your call.
I am a Ford technician, and others may get mad at me, but who cares. The Dodge Cummins Diesel makes great power and is very, very reliable. I would definatly recommend the Dodge for a diesel engine. I would not purchase a Ford Powerstroke if my life depended on it. After driving a 6. 0 Ford and then driving a 5. 9 or the newest 6. 7 liter Dodge, I would take the Dodge Cummins. They are seldom in our Ford/Dodge dealership for repairs and have very good power. The 6. 0 liter is a nightmare of problems and has never been as dependable as the 7. 3 liter Ford will ever be. Steer away from the powerstroke diesel. The new 6. 4 liter Ford will be out next year, and us Ford techs can only imagine the nightmares we are in for!
AVOID THE 6. 0 LITER! Injector failures, burned wiring to injectors, fried injection control modules, Egr valves!, Egr valves, did I mention Egr valves? Exhaust back pressure sensor problems (coking), high pressure oil pump failures, oil leaks from high pressure oil pump system, ICP sensor failures (pain in the rear to replace), fuel/water seperator problems, high pressure oil pump drive requires engine removal to repair, cracked exhaust tubing behind engine, variable geometry turbo failures, and lots of them. You have to baby this engine to get any life out of it, and that is not what I want out of a diesel. This engine is not worthy of a Ford badge and I am ashamed it was produced.
chevy or gm best
Why not buy a Toyota? Best trucks made. May not be able to pull a house, but they don’t ever die.
