Because of a mistake in a gas station the clerk put in my diesel engine car less than half a gallon of regular gas. I perceived the mistake and then decide to fill the tank (18 gallons) with the regular diesel fuel. Can somebody tell if this is going to hurt my diesel engine?

No problem what-so-ever. How did you get home from the gas station to type this question? Did you drive or have the car towed? If you drove, you have answered your own question. The car will be fine.
well that would be a mix of 36-1,its possible you are safe. listen carefully to the engine, and if it even remotely sounds like it is knocking,or clattering, shut it down, drain fuel and refill. thats a tough call. like i said, and if it were mine id drain and replace the fuel filter, and refill with fresh.
Gas in a diesel is not great but will be ok it will not have the power but it shouldnt hurt anything, just try to keep toping it off with diesel to help to delute it
In the amount you describe, I think you should be fine. But I would have made a clear understanding with the Station attendant that if there is any damage, they would be responsible.
Normally in situations where they put in all gasoline in a diesel. . . . Or put diesel in a gasoline powered vehicle. It is towed to a dealership and drained. Filters changed and in some cases the O2 sensor and converter even have to be changed. As well a rental car while repairs are made. Probably about a $1,000 bill for not paying attention at the pumps. And this is only if there isn’t any internal engine damage! Good Luck!
Since it was the stores fault, I would demand they get the system cleaned out (including filter, fuel lines, injectors, etc) and refill the vehicle with diesel. In the mean time, they would provide me with a rental car.
No use taking unnecessary chances.
No, just turn up the radio. You won’t hear a thing.
