My Dodge diesel Ram 2500 is slipping out of of overdrive. How can I fix it? Can I get an additive to fix it?

Will an additive work? If not, can a transmisssion be repaired or does it have to be replaced? I have already changed the oill and replaced the utility box servicing the transmission but that did not solve the probllem

no additive will work to help it,you can repair that transmission though but it will have to come out to be repaired,it more than likely has a bad synchronize,r in it,that’s what causes that too happen,i wouldn’t waste money on additives though that wont work, good luck.

You’re probably looking at a tranny rebuild, dont waste money on additives, the damage is already done.

Sorry to say your transmission is shot.
These are famous for transmission problems.
The diesel can over torque the transmission and cause major problems.
A good rebuilder can instal several upgrades that will help the transmission work longer.
Make sure you take it to someone who will not only fix it but do the upgrades as well.

Try readjusting the brakelite switch under the dash. If it is too lose when you hit a bump it will come out of overdrive.
