NO fuel miliage,duramax?

I have 2007 chev duramax diesel 3500 dualley with 6500 mi. i get 10 t0 11 miles to the gallon pulling trailer, I’am very disipointed with the duramax engine,I have been told that I need to get at least 20,000 miles on truck before i get any fuel miliage, but that does’nt sound right ,Can anyone tell me what is wrong.

I do not own a DuraMax but I recall Motor Trend doing their thing with one when it was first introduced, and they raved about the great mileage over several thousand miles of “hard use. ” You don’t state the trailer size or load but if you’re towing at or near maximum capacity the figures you quote may be typical. If you haven’t done so yet I would recommend that you switch to a synthetic oil. I’m not a dealer but I personally use Amsoil Products in a variety of cars, trucks, and machinery (engine, transmission, and gear boxes) and have found Amsoil to be an excellent lubricant. Better fuel economy, performance and longevity are typical of these synthetics. Hope this helps.

If you are pulling max loads, mileage is about right.
