How are these ‘drag diesel’ engines compared to ‘top fuel drag’ engines? I mean, are they comparably ‘extreme’ in terms of being built for one run or two and then rebuilding? Or do they last longer?
@gotboostduramax funny you say that. in terms of rods components, the banks engines use the stock crank, heads and block. if you watch some of the other videos where gale talks about the engine, he says they use stock aluminum heads crank and i think rods (?). You can put 10000 into a twin turbo 12v cummins and get 1000 horsepower that you can drive down the street.
yeah its crazy my 05 sterling with a cat c15 475 hp 1600 ftlbs not a bit of smoke ever and it pulls at low rpms its the way to go man run em lean and lots of boost
And a top fuel engine only costs about 50,000. 00 Hard to believe its that cheap. They come apart every run. I have a couple pistons and rods out of Del Worshams funny car and after 4. 5 seconds down the quarter one rod is bent and the other has the bearing spun off. Both pistons are shredded
@mozzarrella Hard to believe to a brad anderson top fuel engine. Same ones in all the top fuel dragsters and funny cars are actually cheaper to build than a Pro Stock engine. There is more technology in the prostocks bigblock engines and there is deffinetly more technology in these diesel engines as well. Diesels are extremely expensive to build. The diesel will just never match up to the unreal power of a blown nitrometh engine. They also have to rebuild those blow nitro engines every run.
i work for Banks power and helped build this dragster, the way we get very little smoke as possible is that we use all of our resources, edge bully dog efi all those just throw out unburned fuel, we pipe our turbos to the intake so well that if there was any black smoke is was burned and used,
@mozzarrella top fuel rails run 85% nitromethan and scream down the track at 10K rpms. a top fuel diesel rail still dosent spin half that many rpms not to mention has to match or exceed the top fuel rails power at 8000hp and 12500-13000 ft lbs of tourqe
I wonder how diesel rails would compare to top fuel rails if they had the same amount of money put into them? Top Fuel Dragster runs twice as fast as this but I bet the diesels could come close if someone would just build one
awesome
surprisely it sound like a gasoline
Do you know what RPM they go to?
@LeeLeefritz93 I’m suprised that engine doesn’t rip a rift in time and space lol.
@peepeevagi its gotta be a good couple thousand dude
I’m afraid to ask, but how much torque does that engine produce?

@weed46 wow your a idiot theres no filter on it and if it did why does a light haze come out right before the burnout

@dewartt69 LOL your torque figures are so wrong. A top fuel dragster engine torque figures are in the low 4000 to 6000 range.
they go very fast on max boost?
nice to see no smoke all these tards on here that think trucks looks so fast b/c they smoke should see this to see how a real diesel is tuned

What transmission are you using in this dragster?
@dewartt69 top fuel runs 8k rpm

sounds nothin like a diesel lol
awesome sound

great, 7. 15 and no black smoke, top marks, where can i buy one?
Don’t know anything about drag racing, but did I notice a doppler affect as it went down the track? The pitch got lower as it got faster. . .
its called nitrous and tuning. . . . . lots of nitrous will clear up any smoke
