what postion should the arm be to diagnose bad lift pump on 96 dodge diesel truck?

Trying to this truck going… Read somewhere I should move the “arm” lever in place on the lift pump. Do I have to hold it in place? Thanks!

im not sure what you mean ,but please go purchase a repair manual on that truck if your going to work on it the haynes part number of the book you need is a 30041 ,that covers all dodge trucks from 1994 -2001 and believe me it will help you a lot on that truck,good luck.
