I’m in the market to buy a diesel- i’ve test driven a the big “three” and I liked the duramax and the cummins the best but I’m torn between the two. I’m going to be pulling a regular low boy trailer with no more weight than a car (in wv)- but this is only going to be only a few times a week. I’m going to drive it daily for my commute. I needs some info on which one is going to be the most reliable (top priority).

Cummins diesel – Dodge truck!!
The Cummins engine in the Dodge pickup will give you a bit better fuel mileage than the Duramax in the Chevy/GMC, but I like the Allison transmission in the GMC better than the Dodge.
Both trucks are reliable, and if maintained properly, should give you good service for the use you’re looking for. In the end it’s your money and your choice to make.
Duramax has 15 more HP and 10 ft lbs more torque than the cummins.
Cummins is more reliable 6spd. I’m not sure about those model’s automatic transmission, I just know that they’ve had hell with them in the past. Don’t believe any numbers thrown out there. The dyno is the only thing you can go by. Just so happens that ironically after Ford released their numbers for 2011 Scorpion, Cheve released thier numbers being about 5-10 more hp and torque.
Chev/GMC Duramax Diesel. 2006 RPO code LBZ is the best one to buy. 360 horses 660 lb ft torque and no mileage robbing emissions garbage.
i would go with the dodge any day. I like the styling of the truck better, and i love those mega cabs if that is the one your looking at.
