Powerstroke Performance – Duramax Performance – Cummins Performance

When should i really be changing my oil?

I have a 2004 f250 powerstroke, all the dealers say change it every 3 thousand miles but a letter directly from ford says every 5 so when should i really be doing it. I do a lot of towing and hauling with it

follow your owners manual, make sure you look under extreme or severe service requirements since you tow with it. The owner’s manual comes right from Ford. The dealer will tell you anything to keep you coming back in to spend money.

In truth many oils are able to last for 5000 miles or better now a days but given that you do a lot of towing more wear is put on the engine and more oil is used.

It would be highly recommended that you do change your oil every 3000 miles as the dealers are telling you.
