How do you know its not the powerstroke if you’re asking? I think nobody is going to be able to answer this since nobody really cares. All three can blow thick black smoke (aka- wasted fuel). But between those two I’d say the cummins.

My money is on the 425 Cat engine(before computers) It could be turned up to 700hp with very little smoke, but a guy once turned his up to nearly 1000,(or tried) and there was so much smoke you couldn’t see the truck until he got it wound up to road speed.
Nearly all these diesels with computers will not smoke unless the computers are altered with a chip or programmer. While some think it is cool to blow smoke, at nearly 3 bucks a gallon it ain’t worth it to waste enough diesel to blow smoke. A lot of smoke does not equate to a lot of power, as evidenced by the BlueTEC technology developed by Daimler. With BlueTEC, less smoke equates more power and a cleaner atmosphere. There a couple of states whose emissions are so severe that if you are caught smoking, you will park it and be fined.

I’d say an old 2 stroke Detroit. They called them oil burners for a reason! I remember when a diesel wasn’t running right UNLESS it had fire coming from the stacks!
