Im looking to get a new truck before college and what I really want to get is a nice Ford F-250, 1996-2001. What year should I get and what engine should I get? Im leaning to the 7.3 powerstroke, but since i wont be doing super heavy hauling I was thinking of going with the 5.4. I am going to college to be a diesel tech which is why I kind of want the powerstroke.
Also I would lift the truck I decide on a little, probly around 3 inches to be a nice weekend off roader but nothing too serious.
So what year and what type of F-250 would you recommend?
whatever will keep u put of debt the most and then after collage buy wat u want
go with a f250 7. 3 powerstroke . its one of the best engines ever build. not saying the 5. 4s are bad but if i was youi would take the 7. 3 powerstroke caterpillar engine
I say go old school powerstroke. Just don’t get a 6. 0. I’d go with a standard cab long bed. 1996 would be a good year. The 7. 3 would have plenty of powe because I’m pretty sure they were direct injected. In early 90s I think they were indirect injected and only had like 170 horsepower.
Don’t buy used! Get a new F 250 rod 350 super duty buying used always leads to problems
Go with the 7. 3 best motor ever. I got a 93 250 7. 3 non turbo and smoked a new durmax. It’s got 291031 miles and still going.
7. 3 is the best IMO. I have a 2003 E-350 that I haul expedited freight in to 48 U. S. States. It has 682363 miles and still running strong. Hauling 2600 pounds, I get 18 MPG. 20-21 MPG when empty.
STAY AWAY FROM THE 6. 0
