Why wont my 2001 dodge diesel start till it cools for a while.?

The eng. cranks at rated speed and batters are good. New fuel & air filter. Will start in about 20 min. and then runs perfectly. It only dose this one out of 30 times after it has been driven for a while.

My car did the same thing when my grandpa owned it. He fixed it before he sold it to me, but he had them replace the distributor and I think the alternator too. Now it starts right up every time. My car isn’t a diesel but it could possibly be the same problem.

my 1998 chevy did that for a long time and at the end did it more often turned out to be the on board fuel injector pump relay going bad

and brandon diesels dont have a distributor

it sounds more like a pump relay possibly going bad on it more than anything else ,you might want to check that first, good luck.
